WAVE AWARDS ENTRIES - DEADLINE CLOSED AUGUST 27

More than 350 entries have been received for the Western Access Video Excellence (WAVE) Awards, and the entry deadline closed at 10 PM Monday, August 27. The entries will be judged by media centers outside the Western region during the next few weeks, and we will announce finalists in September. Best of luck to all the community media producers in the Alliance for Community Western Region's six states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, and New Mexico. Remember to register for the conference and attend the WAVE Awards ceremony Oct 18-20, 2012.

  • Submit your video online! DVD entries will no longer be accepted. Please upload your file to YouTube, Vimeo, Internet Archive or your favorite video hosting site and provide the link information for your video in the online entry form. Need help?! Follow these instructions.

All online entries must be submitted by 10pm Pacific Daylight Time, August 27, 2012.

STEP 1: PREPARE YOUR ENTRY(IES)
Programs longer than one hour may compile a series of excerpts
Each excerpt must be at least 5 minutes in length.
Excerpts must be separated by 3 to 5 seconds of black or a slate introducing the next segment.
A minimum of 30 minutes of programming excerpts must be submitted.

STEP 2: PAY YOUR ENTRY FEE
$25 for Alliance Members or Member Organizations and $40 for Non Members
Make one payment for multiple entries. For example, if you are entering your program in three categories, you would select them in the online form and then pay $75 as a member or $120 as a non member.

Programs in each category will be evaluated by a panel of judges at designated sites outside of the Western Region. Each panel will consider both the program and submitted materials. Specific judging criteria is approved by the Western States Region Board of Directors and provided to each judging panel by the WAVE coordinating site.

Finalists are notified by email once the judging is completed and will be posted on the website by the end of September.

The WAVE Awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 20 in Sacramento, California.

Disqualified entries are not eligible for a refund. Entries may be disqualified for any 
the following reasons:

X Incomplete Entry Form
X Program does not meet category-specific requirements
X Program cannot be viewed for technical reasons 
X Program premiered on PEG channels before August 9, 2011 after August 20, 2012
X Program violates the law
